Welcome to Franziska von WOYSKÎ

Franziska von Woyski’s painting technique is based on the medieval technique known as Fassmalerei. It was employed mainly for painting and guilding wooden altar-pieces and sculptures. It features chalk base applied in several layers on a firm support. Well sanded, this base may be gold- and silver-plated with real gold and silver leaves. Using agate, one not only polishes the precious metals, but it gives tempera colours, applied in many layers, a great intensity and shine.

Franziska von Woyski is among the few modern painters to apply this ancient technique by choosing subjects from contemporary life: through still-lifes, modern and historical buildings inBrussels, and underground metro escalators.
